Far-Near (1993)

I curated this action-exhibition on the Shchekavitsa hill together with Viacheslav Mashnytskyy. "Far-Near" was one of the first open-air exhibitions in Kyiv. Our art objects were “museum” models, a sort of 3D paintings for the open space. All models were united by one storyline. Not far from the models, telescopes were placed, offering panoramic views of the city. The events reflected in the small models displayed on the hill, despite their proximity to the viewer, seemed to happen far away. The telescopes contributed further to this visual “drama” by bringing distant objects and events closer.

The exhibition space was similar to a recreational park or an open-air museum due to its exhibits, recreational zone and even a buffet. Our guests were active participants of the action-exhibition.
